Nadine François

Classical Dressage Trainer – Portugal (Originally Belgium)

Nadine Francois is a classically trained rider and educator, originally from Belgium and now based in Portugal. For over a decade, she studied under legendary dressage master Nuno Oliveira at Quinta do Brejo, and continues to honour his legacy through her work across Europe, the United States, and Australasia.

Her clinics, held twice yearly in New Zealand, are deeply rooted in Oliveira’s principles: balance, harmony, and lightness. Whether working in the saddle, in-hand, or on the lunge, Nadine emphasises correct rider posture and respectful communication with the horse. Her training builds confidence by establishing solid basics before introducing more advanced movements.

With a background in veterinary medicine, Nadine brings a deep understanding of the horse’s physical and mental needs to her work. She believes that classical dressage should support the horse’s natural movement—never forcing it into positions, but instead allowing lightness and self-carriage to develop organically.

Her teaching is clear, precise, and insightful. Riders often describe lightbulb moments—finding softness in the contact, harmony in transitions, and true balance in the frame. Nadine’s consistent visits provide an invaluable opportunity to build lasting progress and understanding over time.

No matter your discipline or experience level, Nadine’s clinics offer transformative insights into the classical path—helping you become the rider your horse needs.
